London Dungeon is the brainchild of two of Denver’s fastest up and coming artists, Van Kalsing (DJ) & Thrashton Kutcher (MC & FX). Longtime friends, they quickly began making music together after a road trip to California where they first immersed themselves in the dance music culture.
Kal Halax aka Van Kalsing exploded onto the local electronic scene in the past year. His music career started in high school playing the drums in several bands. After spinning hip-hop albums in his freshman dorm room Van Kalsing easily made the transition to electro as the scene has progressed. He has held numerous aliases over the years including Yonz, Nosferatu, and Fig-8.
Colin Defenbau aka Thrashton Kutcher is a ghetto renaissance man originally from New Jersey; he has called Colorado home for the past 5 years. Colin spends most of his time dabbling in various artistic endeavors. He broke onto the scene when he started running effects and synths at Van Kalsing’s gigs, which has quickly evolved in to the partnership now known as London Dungeon.
They currently hold residency on Saturdays at Shag Lounge and Wednesdays at Casselman’s. They were also residents at the now-defunct Noise Fridays at Beta Nightclub (Ranked #1 Club in the US and #23 in the world for 2009 by DJ Magazine). London Dungeon has played at several venues including the Avalon in Hollywood, Vinyl and Bar Standard in Denver and has shared the stage with such acts as Congorock, Junior Boys, AC Slater, Designer Drugs, Kill the Noise, Treasure Fingers, Drop the Lime, DJ Falcon, Depressed Buttons and DJ Craze. Musical influences for the duo include the likes of ///BONES, Fake Blood, MSTRKRFT, Spinstyles, Mustard Pimp, The Misfits, Beardyman and Drop the Lime. While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly, they describe their musical genre as electro, grime and dub with a sprinkling of nu-disco to top it off.
