Scandalized by experimental alternative and electronic music, New York’s FIGO is vocalist/guitarist Parag Bhandari, bassist Paul Daly, guitarist Robert Rivadeneira, programmer Ryan Jones, and drummer Richard Stuverud. The band fuses intense live energy with pounding beats and samples, influenced by groups as diverse as Primal Scream, Pink Floyd, The Misfits, and The Chemical Brothers to name a few. FIGO also doubles as a two-man DJ crew, with Parag and Paul on the decks, who mix heavy house with punk and rock. With a 4-song EP released in late 2006, FIGO has been busy this past year, garnering a strong fan-base through both live and DJ gigs at clubs across the country. On their own, the band has already appeared at major music festivals like Amsterjam and SXSW, licensed music to the likes of CMJ Magazine and Marlboro, and have shared bills with artists such as The Presets, MOTOR, …Trail Of Dead, She Wants Revenge, and Foo Fighters. FIGO will release a new EP and remix compilation this Spring 2008.
They have recently completed a remix for A Place To Bury Strangers and ‘Ego Death" (out now on Mute Records). Also soon to be released is a remix for The Boxer Rebellion (currently featured in the movie Going The Distance).
Here is some recent press:
BRIT ROCK DAILY
“The delicate mix of electro and rock is one that only a few acts have had the musical dexterity to handle. Immediate names that spring to mind – Primal Scream, Kasabian, Chemical Brothers – are part of a very short list. But another to be added is New York outfit FIGO, wh…o are delivering the rock/dance crossover with equal style and sonic craftsmanship and making waves with their noise-laden, guitar-driven electro-punk.”

“A Place To Bury Strangers always makes us want to break shit, and this electro-emo FIGO remix of “Ego Death” is no exception. It’s sinister, damaged, smoking—like that older kid you had a thing for in middle school. It’ll only hurt you, but you already knew that. Embrace the bone-shaking strobe below, and pick up Exploding Head on Mute right here."

TWENTYSEVEN VIEWS
“One of the thickest, noisiest guitar bands out there gets their track “Ego Death” remixed and then gets turned into one of the heaviest electro tracks I’ve heard in a long time. A Place To Bury Strangers’ track “Ego Death” remixed by FIGO is still dark and alluring. Quite gothic at times."

WE WERE HUNTED
“This FIGO mix turns down the face melting guitars, until the end at least, and transforms the Brooklyn trio’s attack into a pummeling Soulwax/Justice affair. Multiple layers of synths make the track even more hypnotic.”
